Breakout

Breakout is an arcade game developed by Atari Inc. and introduced on May 13, 1976. It was conceptualized by Nolan Bushnell and Steve Bristow, and influenced by the 1972 arcade game Pong. The game was ported to video game consoles and upgraded to video games such as Super Breakout. In addition, Breakout was the basis and inspiration for books, video games, and the Apple II personal computer. In the game, a layer of bricks lines the top third of the screen. A ball travels across the screen, bouncing off the top and side walls of the screen. When a brick is hit, the ball bounces away and the brick is destroyed. The player loses a turn when the ball touches the bottom of the screen. To prevent this from happening, the player has a movable paddle to bounce the ball upward and back into play. No Escape From Ball And Paddle

Almost everyone played one of the Arkanoids. At least once. But most clones have same gameplay: paddle at the bottom, walls around. Break all bricks and move to next level. "No Escape" tries to give some new breath to the great idea. Here your paddle is not attached to the bottom of the screen and can freely move around. Also there is special "hardcore" mode which introduces inertia to the paddle control. But the most pleasant modification is that you don't have to break ALL bricks. Just navigate the ball to the EXIT icon.

Breakout - Voyager

The original version of Breakout for Atari in 1976 was developed by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, before they founded Apple Computer. Wozniak's chip compact design for the game didn't work with Atari's manufacturing process, and so it was scrapped. Versions of Breakout appeared as hidden Easter eggs in many versions of the Mac OS. Even today, it is included on most iPods.
